Take the Leap!

take a leap

"The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." Deuteronomy 31:8

Two years ago I took the biggest leap of faith in my ministry career. I had been serving at the same school near Saint Louis for 17 years. I had started there as a young teacher and grew into an administrator. My children grew up in that environment. I had celebrated my dad's entrance to heaven in that church. Needless to say, it was home. No one, including me, ever thought I would leave.

Then a school in Asheville, NC came calling. Immediately, I felt this pull to change. That would mean moving far away from my entire family and everyone I had known since I was in middle school. It meant leaving my comfort zone as a minister in the Lutheran Church's backyard and being sent into a whole different land.

Isn't that exactly what God asked Moses to do? He asked him to step way out of his comfort zone and serve Him. After much prayer, Moses followed the Lord's direction. I did the same.

I left all that I knew and moved to a land where I knew no one. It was an exciting and terrifying time. I am here to tell you that it was the most freeing time of my life. God has blessed my ministry more then I ever thought possible. I now have a new family! Through this challenge, my faith and trust in my God grown to mountain top proportions.

God puts difficult challenges in front of us every day. The verse quoted above says that He is ALWAYS before us. How comforting it is to know that we have a loving God that is always with us.
