At ELS, athletics play an important role in helping students grow physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Through sports, students develop discipline, teamwork, leadership skills, and a strong work ethic—all while learning to honor God with their talents and abilities. Our athletic program is designed to emphasize Christian values such as respect, perseverance, and sportsmanship, creating a positive and supportive environment for all students.

Athletic Philosophy

Our athletics program is grounded in the belief that sports are not just about competition, but about developing character, building relationships, and glorifying God. Students are encouraged to use their athletic abilities to serve others, show integrity, and demonstrate Christlike behavior both on and off the court. We believe that sports can be a platform for teaching life lessons, promoting good health, and building community.

Faith and Sportsmanship

Our athletics program integrates faith with sport by emphasizing Christian values such as respect, humility, and service. Coaches model Christlike behavior, teaching students to compete with integrity, encourage others, and display good sportsmanship.

  • Sportsmanship: Students learn that winning and losing are both opportunities to reflect God's love and grace. Respect for opponents, referees, coaches, and teammates is emphasized at all times.
  • Community Building: Athletics foster strong bonds between students, coaches, and parents, creating a tight-knit, supportive community where everyone is encouraged to grow and excel.
Physical and Emotional Development

Participation in athletics encourages students to maintain an active, healthy lifestyle. Our sports programs emphasize physical fitness, endurance, and coordination, helping students improve their athletic abilities while also promoting overall health and well-being.

  • Teamwork and Cooperation: Students learn how to work together to achieve common goals, building leadership and communication skills that benefit them both in sports and in everyday life.
  • Discipline and Perseverance: Through practices, training, and competition, students learn the value of hard work, setting goals, and pushing through challenges to achieve success.
  • Confidence and Self-Esteem: As students develop their skills and contribute to their teams, they gain confidence in themselves and their abilities, which carries over into other areas of life.
Family and Community Involvement

We encourage strong involvement from families and the local community. Parents and supporters are invited to attend games, cheer on the teams, and become active participants in the athletic experience. Our school values the positive role that families play in creating a vibrant athletic culture.
