About Summer Rocks
Summer Rocks offers exciting weekly camp experiences led by expert instructors and dedicated ELS staff. From arts and athletics to LEGO engineering and cooking, each week brings new adventures designed to inspire creativity, build skills, and create lasting friendships.
Who Can Attend: Rising 1st grade through rising 6th grade students (ELS students and community members welcome!)
Camp Hours and Cost:
- Half-Day Camp: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM Cost: $175/week; the week of (Jun 30-Jul 2 $140; 4 days only)
- Full-Day Camp: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM Cost: $350/week; the week of (Jun 30-Jul 2 $280; 4 days only)

Acting Camp: June 1-5

Join an acting coach from ACT (Asheville Community Theatre) explore creative expression through painting, drawing, crafts, and mixed media projects. Campers develop artistic skills while having fun in a supportive environment.

Mr. Spencer Hilgeman
Come for a fun week learning culinary skills! We will start by covering the essentials of the culinary world, including kitchen safety, basic knife skills, and cleanliness.
Students will learn to make homemade pasta with two types of sauces, scratch-made chicken nuggets with homemade ketchup and honey mustard, and breakfast favorites like eggs and biscuits. We will end the week with a homemade ice cream sundae bar.
Music Camp: June 15-18
$175 Half-Day / $350 Full-Day
Mr. Andrew Hendryx
In this fun and interactive music camp, campers will explore how sound is created through string vibration and hands-on music-making. The primary focus will be on guitar, bass, ukulele, violin, cello, piano and singing, with other instruments welcome with instructor approval.
Students will work on forming chords, writing original songs and collaborating with peers. Through games, listening activities, and creative exploration, campers will build musical skills while developing confidence and having fun making music together.
At the end of the week, students will have the exciting opportunity to record some of their original creations, giving them a meaningful keepsake and a real-world glimpse into the music-making process.
This camp welcomes beginners while offering engaging challenges and creative opportunities for more experienced students.

Get ready to serve, rally, and have a blast! Pickleball Camp will be packed with high-energy games, skill challenges, and fun drills that make learning easy and exciting. Students will build serving, rallying, teamwork, and game-play skills through relay races, target challenges, mini-games, and friendly matches. Perfect for beginners and experienced players—come play, laugh, compete, and make new friends on the court

Water Week Camp is all about splashing into summer fun! Campers will cool off with an inflatable water slide, a bubble machine, and a variety of exciting water games and activities. Be sure to wear appropriate clothing and shoes for the water, and don't forget your towel and sunscreen. You will need a dry change of clothes if you plan to be an all day camper. Please make a note that this is only a 4 day camp week. All programs will be closed on Friday, July 3.

This art camp is designed to spark creativity, build confidence, and encourage artistic exploration through a variety of hands-on projects. Throughout the week, students experiment with color and self-expression, explore nature-based materials, design imaginative creatures through storytelling, and construct three-dimensional sculptures using recycled materials. Each lesson focuses on the creative process over perfection while introducing art skills such as color mixing, observation, problem-solving, and collaboration. The camp culminates in a celebration of student artwork with a gallery-style showcase, allowing students to reflect on their growth, share their creations, and take pride in their artistic achievements.

Led by 7th-degree black belt Instructor Tony Morris from Asheville Sun Soo Traditional Tae Kwon Do. Campers learn skills with emphasis on respect, integrity, and self-control.

Mr. Zach Wilkins
We’re excited to welcome Coach Zack Wilkins to lead our Basketball Camp! Coach Wilkins is a proud ELS parent and the dad of Maezey (5th grade) and Huck (2nd grade). He brings a wealth of basketball experience, having coached at the middle school, high school, and AAU levels.
Coach Wilkins is passionate about teaching the fundamentals of the game while helping young athletes grow in confidence, teamwork, and sportsmanship. His camp will focus on skill development, game understanding, and having fun, creating a positive environment where players of all experience levels can learn and improve.
Throughout the week, campers will work on dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, and gameplay through age-appropriate drills and games. Whether your child is new to basketball or already loves the game, this camp is designed to build skills, encourage effort, and foster a love of the game.

Step into the lab and let your curiosity run wild with Zaniac's Crazy Chemistry program! This fun program is all about hands-on experiments, surprising reactions, and discovering the fascinating world of chemistry. Students will mix, fizz, bubble, and pop their way through exciting activities that bring science to life.
From making colorful slime to exploring exo-thermic reactions, students will learn about the science behind everyday materials in a fun and engaging way. They'll dive into topics like states of matter, chemical reactions, and the periodic table, all while sparking their creativity and critical thinking.

Bricks4Kidz
Inspired by the idea of edutainment, this unique camp builds a strong interest in STEAM for kids aged 5-13 while having fun. Children will enjoy using LEGO® bricks to build specially-designed Bricks 4 Kidz models, play fun games and explore the world of engineering, architecture, robotics, coding, video game design, animated movie-making, and more.

Summer Rocks is designed for rising 1st grade through rising 6th grade students. Students do not need to attend Emmanuel Lutheran School to participate—we welcome all children in this age range!
Drop-off:
- Full-day campers: Arrive at 8:30 AM outside the main entrance of the preschool
- Half-day campers: Arrive at 9:00 AM in the cafeteria
Pick-up:
- Half-day campers: Pick up at 12:00 PM from the cafeteria
- Full-day campers: Pick up by 4:30 PM in the cafeteria or playground
- Late pick-up after 4:30 PM incurs a $1.00 per minute charge
All camps include a morning snack. Full-day campers receive lunch. Home lunch is allowed (no glass containers). All campers should bring a labeled water bottle.
Each morning features the week's themed camp activity (art, sports, LEGO, etc.). In the afternoon, campers enjoy outdoor play, gym time, games like dodgeball and Gaga ball, hands-on crafts, and team-building activities.
We do not prorate camps due to sickness, vacation, etc. A 50% refund is available with two weeks' notice before the first day of camp. No refunds for cancellations with less than two weeks' notice.

Yes! Sibling discounts are available for most camps. Note: Some specialty camps led by outside contractors (like High Touch-High Tech) may not offer sibling discounts due to contractor restrictions.
Popular camps like Tae Kwon Do and LEGO Camp often fill up fast. Some camps have enrollment limits (LEGO Camp is limited to 16 campers). We recommend registering early to secure your spot!
