Emmanuel Lutheran School in West Asheville, NC, is proud to offer a STEAM Program. This approach is a learning opportunity that focuses on four disciplines: science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Many technical and scientific skills are becoming increasingly important in the workplace today.
At ELS, we want to introduce our students to STEAM learning and provide them with challenging tasks that they can explore and solve. This program is intended to help them in developing the skills required for future success.
STEAM is an educational movement that combines science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics to promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration by combining all disciplines.
Emmanuel Lutheran School in Asheville is western North Carolina's first and only Christian Parochial Christian STEAM school, using technology and the arts to empower students and inspire them to do great things beyond their middle school experiences.
STEAM education begins in Kindergarten, and each year builds on the STEAM projects of the previous year. Students will be able to see and develop a process as they work in groups to solve problems. Robotics, drones, 3D imaging, and other forms of technology are used in the classroom to connect all of the concepts taught in traditional classrooms.
STEAM is an educational initiative that expands on the original STEM framework by incorporating the arts. The addition of the arts to the original STEM framework is significant because practices such as modeling, developing explanations, and engaging in critique have been underemphasized in the context of math and science education far too often.
The incorporation of STEAM into the Emmanuel curriculum has significant benefits for our students' overall education. STEAM promotes the development of creative problem-solving abilities, inventive thinking, imaginative design abilities, and acquiring a more well-rounded skill set to face challenges. These abilities can help you succeed in STEM fields like engineering and finance.
Emmanuel Lutheran School provides a Christ-centered, academically challenging education in a nurturing setting. We provide a Christ-centered rigorous education to all children in order to prepare them to succeed academically as well as to be productive members of the church and society. From Kindergarten to Grade 8, ELS offers a STEAM education to students in the Asheville area.
