WLOS: Young students preparing for upcoming art & music show featuring their own work

January 19, 2022

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Students at Emmanuel Lutheran are busy as bees preparing for an upcoming visual arts and music show. Every student at the school will have a couple pieces on display.

Their art teacher, Tammy Reilly, says the students have been learning about all different styles of art. "I like they show different ways of art like impressionism and cubism and stuff like that," said Viktoria, who likes art.

Reilly said she wants her students to have an appreciation for creativity and to realize that in art, anything goes. "We're also looking at these famous artists so they can look at different styles so they can figure out their style, to experiment with different ones," said Reilly.

"Before, I really just mainly drew a bunch of little scribbles and shapes, and now I'm really just drawing big cityscapes," said Wyatt, a student.

The art show at Emmanuel Lutheran will be March 31, 2022. They will also hold a blood drive from 5:30-7:30 p.m. that day.
