Emmanuel Lutheran School in Asheville, NC
About
Rooted in faith. Built for the years that shape children most.
Emmanuel Lutheran School is a Christ-centered school in West Asheville serving children from infancy through eighth grade.
Since 1958, Emmanuel Lutheran has provided families with a strong Christian educational foundation: one that prepares students academically, spiritually, socially, and personally.
Here, children are known. Teachers see their strengths, support their growth, and help them build the confidence, character, and learning habits they will carry into the future.
For more than 65 years, Emmanuel has remained committed to a simple but powerful purpose: preparing children for today, tomorrow, and forever.
Our Mission
Emmanuel Lutheran School provides an academically challenging, Christ-centered education in a caring environment. We equip students to succeed in their academic pursuits, grow in faith and character, and become productive members of both church and society.
Our Purpose
Children are shaped by the places where they spend their days. At Emmanuel Lutheran, we believe school should do more than deliver lessons. It should help them become capable learners, thoughtful friends, faithful servants, confident individuals, and people of strong character.
That is why Emmanuel’s approach is built around four foundations:

Faith
We teach and model Christian truth in a school community grounded in God’s Word, prayer, worship, and service.

Academics
We provide structured, challenging instruction that helps students develop knowledge, discipline, curiosity, and readiness for the next stage of learning.

Character
We help students practice kindness, responsibility, respect, perseverance, leadership, and service in everyday school life.

Confidence
We create a smaller, supportive environment where children are known, encouraged to participate in everything from art to athletics, and given room to grow.
Our Values
Christ-Centered Learning
Faith is part of daily life at Emmanuel. It shapes how we teach, how we serve, how we treat one another, and how we help each child understand their God-given purpose.
Academic Excellence
Students thrive when they are both challenged and supported. Emmanuel’s commitment to strong academics is reflected in our curriculum, faculty, accreditation, and daily classroom experience.
A Caring Community
Emmanuel is small enough for students to be personally known and supported, while still offering meaningful opportunities in academics, faith, service, athletics, and enrichment.
Character and Service
We want students to grow not only in what they know, but in who they are becoming. Service, responsibility, humility, and respect are part of the daily culture.
Partnership With Families
Preparation for Life
Our goal is not simply to move students to the next grade. We prepare them for today’s responsibilities, tomorrow’s opportunities, and a life rooted in faith.
Our Rich Heritage: More Than 65 Years of Christian Education in Asheville
Emmanuel Lutheran School began in 1958 as a ministry of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, a member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
In a large school setting, it can be easy for a child to blend in. Emmanuel offers a more personal experience.
Here, teachers know their students. They notice when a child needs help, when they are ready for more challenge, when they need encouragement, and when they are discovering a new strength.
That kind of environment matters, especially during the years when children are building confidence, friendships, habits, faith, and identity.

Commitment to Excellence
Throughout its history, Emmanuel Lutheran School has maintained a commitment to academic excellence, spiritual development, and community service.
That commitment is reflected in Emmanuel’s accreditation, faculty, curriculum, and daily school life. Students are challenged to grow academically, but they are also encouraged to develop spiritually, socially, emotionally, and personally.
Academic strength matters. So does character. So does faith. At Emmanuel, those priorities work together.
Looking
Forward
Emmanuel Lutheran School remains committed to its original mission while continuing to adapt for today’s families and tomorrow’s students.
Education changes. Families change. The world children are growing into changes. But the heart of Emmanuel remains steady: Christ-centered education, strong academics, caring community, character formation, and confidence for the future.
For Today. For Tomorrow. Forever.
